Earn Money with Your Camera

Earn Money with Your Camera

With some training and experience with taking pictures, you can use your camera to earn money from home. First, invest some time and training in taking quality photos. Read up on photography at your local library. Perhaps take some community education classes, correspondence or online classes. Consider arranging a meeting to discuss photography with a photographer in your area. They may be willing to give you further advice and suggestions to improve your photo taking skills.

Once you are confident in your picture taking skills and the quality of your work, than you’re ready for the next step.

Decide what you want to photograph for earning money. Do you seek permission at places like the local bowling alleys, country clubs, skating rinks, or community and sports events to offer picture taking for a small fee (and upon approval) by those interested in a quick picture or two.

You may want to see if a kids or adult sports team will let you cover their sports team’s photos for a season. At the end of the season you can make your quality photos of the players’ into group and individual photo albums and offer these at a reasonable price for the players’ and their families. This does put a time demand on you as you need to attend most to all of the games, and many of the practices. Also, you need to be mindful that you are not interruptive in your photo taking to the players’ and coaches of the team.

Another idea is to offer your picture taking skills for insurance purposes. Here a client would contact you to photograph their household and personal property. They would keep the pictures and you receive a reasonable fee for your work. Make sure to check with your local laws and small business administration to find out if you need to be protected with liability or insurance coverage.

With marketing and advertising, have a professional tri-fold brochure and business cards to give out on your business. A separate phone line is recommended for clients to reach you.

An advantage to this photo taking business is that you really don’t need an office space. However, you do need to invest in a quality digital professional camera and understand all its features comfortably.
